Tom's interest in food began at a young age thanks to an abundance of fresh produce growing in his family garden and holidays in the south of France. This began an amazing journey through some of the most famous kitchens in the world, including Pierre Koffmann's La Tante Claire, Joël Robuchon in Paris and at Pied-à-Terre. It was in his second stint at Pied-à-Terre as head chef and co-owner that Tom became the youngest chef to be awarded 2 Michelin stars at the age of just 26.
A key theme in Tom’s cooking has always been a focus on quality ingredients and their provenance. After becoming the youngest chef to be awarded two Michelin stars aged 26, Tom then went on to open his eponymous Restaurant Tom Aikens in 2003. Following a stint away from the London restaurant scene to pursue ventures around the world, Tom has recently returned to the UK with his new fine-dining restaurant Muse, which was recently awarded a Michelin star.
